Ingredients

  • 200 g Minced Chicken - You can use chicken breast, as well. Just cut in smaller pieces!
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • 1.5 tbsp Oyster Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce - I used Kikkoman
  • 1 pinch Black Pepper
  • 3 cloves Garlic - Minced
  • 2 pcs Thai Chili - Chopped. Alternatively, you can use 1/2 tsp Chili Flakes
  • 1/2 tsp Honey - You can also use regular sugar
  • 1 dl Holy Basil* - Lightly packed (or, a handful)

Instructions

  • Heat your pan on medium heat and add the oil
  • Sautée the garlic until soft, fragrant, and slightly caramelized
  • Add your chicken and stir fry until it is almost cooked
  • Add the oyster sauce, soy sauce, honey, black pepper, and Thai chilies. Stir fry until well combined
  • Once the chicken is cooked, add the basil, and your stir fry should be ready after few stirs and tosses!
  • Serve with steamed white rice and sunny side up egg to have a fully authentic experience.

Notes

*In Thailand, this dish is cooked with Holy Basil which gives this dish its aromatic unique flavor which is similar to pepper and cloves. If you can't get your hands on this herb, you can use other types of basil such as Thai or Sweet basil. Most western countries should have sweet basil easily available in their local stores!
