Why is this recipe so bomb

Glad you didn’t ask! I’ll answer anyways and I’ll give you three good reasons:

  1. Marinade. Meat needs a good flavor infusion if you’re planning to bread it. So, one awesome thing you can do for your meat such as chicken or pork is by marinating it in a mixture or brine it in a 2% solution for at least a couple of hours. The purpose is to add in more flavor in the meat because white meats are truly tasteless on their own and you want to improve with the help of other organic ingredients. The idea is not to get read of the meat’s flavor but to enhance it.
  2. Breading. The breading needs to be flavored and I’m not going to repeat that. You don’t leave things behind unflavored when cooking.
  3. Flavor contrast. If you’re not familiar with flavor paring, one of the most common chef tip out there is to balance out overpowering flavors by adding its contrasting flavor. So, if something is salty, balance it out with something sweet. This recipe’s marinade is savory and the honey coating is sweet. Two flavors that are so different but complement each other.

Possible alterations and modifications to suit your taste

  • Flour. You do not need to use potato starch if you don’t have it but do have flour on hand. I only used potato starch because I do not have flour in my pantry but if you’re not gluten-sensitive, you can defo use flour.
  • Tamari. Samesies as the flour, I ran out of soy sauce but have tamari on hand so used that instead. You can surely use soy sauce if you have that!
  • Lime. You can use apple cider vinegar or lemon juice.
  • Honey. You can use sugar syrup instead if you’re allergic to honey.
  • Spices. You do not need to use or have all the spices I’ve mentioned here but I do suggest you get them because they are honestly will be a game-changer during your kitchen journey in the future.

Wrapping up this long note you love reading I hope you enjoy this dish as much as I did. If you actually read this whole thing, I’m sorry I lied to you because I didn’t end up writing 1000 words of nonsense.

More like 600 words, actually.

Anyways, this crispy honey chicken recipe is truly one of my favorite recipes which I make on days I feel that I need a little lift me up or on days I want to spend a bit longer time in the kitchen than my usual “20 minutes tops cos I’m dying of hunger” cooking sesh.

In dire times like that, I usually end up eating ramen noodles because let’s face the truth, when you’re hungry, you don’t have 20 minutes. You just have NOW.
